There are
people obsessed with health, people who are health conscious and people who are
health unconscious.
“We waste
our Health to earn Wealth,
We waste our
Wealth to earn back Health.”
Few but very
meaningful lines J
As a
teenager I was thin, trying to gain mass by all means.
Now I am
Obese, trying really hard to lose weight.
So Human
Beings are never satisfied in terms of Health & Wealth.
Everyone is
in the pursuit of building an ideally fit & healthy body and very few
people achieve it with proper understanding of the human body and acting
accordingly.
Like I
mentioned earlier there are three types of people.
People
who are Health Unconscious:
These are
the people who fall sick very often and are prone to diseases of all kinds.
They are
vulnerable all the time knowingly and unknowingly.
Such are the
people who don’t exercise, don’t follow a balanced diet, don’t eat on time and
others could be hereditary.
As per my
survey, Quite a part of our current generation “The Youth or the Yongistaan”
falls in this category.
People
working hard in earning livelihood but not considering health e.g. IT sector,
Call center jobs etc.
Lazy and
Obese teenagers like school & College kids who have been pampered a lot by
family.
People
who are Health Obsessed:
Well, these
are the people who are all ears. They hear from different sources this and that
is good, but they don’t use their minds. They don’t research even after living
in the age of technology available at hands.
“What is
good?” is a wise
question followed by obvious Answers.
This &
That are good.
“Well,
good is always good.”
But
“How much
good is good?” is a
much wiser question.
“What is
good?” should always be backed by “How much good is good for the body?”
People
obsessed with health keep a healthy & nutritional diet for longer periods
but they just focus on particular food.
“Too much
good is never good for the body”
For example
people eat too much food which leads to excess glucose in the body. If there
is less insulin in the body or the insulin doesn't work properly, the blood sugar level
rises.
Increase in blood sugar level above the reference level for a long time can cause Hyperglycemia, Diabetes, Ketoacidosis (Diabetic
coma) and other diseases.
Similarly
people consuming lots of meat and high protein diet for longer periods will
face problems like obesity, high cholesterol levels leading to heart attack or
stroke, Kidney Stones, Gout and many other diseases.
People
who are Health Conscious:
These
include active sports players, Actors, Doctors etc.
These people
take good precautionary measures to keep themselves physically and mentally fit.
Their way of life includes exercise, nutritional food, consultation with
dieticians/doctors, regular health checkup etc.
They know
how to balance and maintain all body essential minerals & vitamins.
They monitor
their calorie intake for the day and opt many other methods to keep their
health on the right track
That is why
you never hear actors, sports person, doctors getting sick unless it’s a
medical emergency.
My
Understanding of the HUMAN BODY
Our Body,
Mind and Soul combined the Intellectual Being is a gift given to us by the
Almighty.
Staying Alive is all about using these three together.
The Body is
like a Horse chariot driven by Mind, the charioteer, and Soul, the Traveler.
Mind &
Body is enough for a ride but sometimes it takes the Soul to finalize the path
for the chariot. Taking good path or bad path is up to the soul.
Another
Analogy is that the Body is like a temple.
If you keep
the temple clean, people will like it and people will befriend the temple &
the priest (the mind) & the God (the soul).
But if you
don’t, people will not visit your temple.
Trying to
explain it from my religious aspect
I am a
Buddhist and I prefer calling Buddhism as a way of science not exactly
religion.
Great Minds
like Gautama Buddha knew people where lazy and they would not care for the
body. He was clever, so he devised a plan.
If you ever
come across the Buddhist way of worship you will see that the devotee joins
hands in Namaste and then bows to the ground.
This is done in repetitions of 108
times or more, well actually a really good exercise for the legs.
The
benefits of Bowing:
- Better
concentration, increased frontal lobe activity
- Better spinal
alignment
- Lower blood sugar
levels
- Lower stress levels
- Cardio intensity
similar to fast walking
- Better digestion
- Deep breathing
- Better joint health
- Increased muscular
strength and endurance
- Improved personality
- Fat burning
- Deeper humility
- Cures insomnia
- Reduces
bad karma # not quite sure about this
Buddha
taught his followers this way of worship so that they may keep themselves fit
at all times, he also introduced light fasting, meditation and other disciplined
way of life.
A new
outlook towards life through Buddha’s eyes
The Eight
fold path introduced by Buddha has a rule not to intoxicate the body by means
of alcohol and drug abuse or to harm the body by any means.

Buddha preached
nonviolence even before Gandhi made Nonviolence, the voice & weapon for the independent India.
Anyways, my
conscious effort is to promote Health awareness not religion.
My blog
title says "Healthy Mind & Body- a doorway to salvation"
Religion
serves the same purpose.
Suggestions to my blog readers:
1. Be Health Conscious
2. Plan for a full Body Checkup either
quarterly or on half yearly basis or at least once in a year.
3. Know your Body well.
Try to understand
the anatomy and what purpose different organs, blood, and other vital parts serve to the body
You don’t have to be a doctor for
this, its General Science we read in class IX & X and is readily available
in NCERT books for reasonable prices
